We catalogue 107 common U.S. college majors across 10 fields of study. To make the directory itself a useful reference, we measured how those majors are distributed — how many fall in each field, and at which degree levels they’re commonly offered. Every number below is computed directly from our own dataset; nothing is estimated or hand-entered, and there are no salary or job-outcome figures.
Arts & Humanities is the largest field in our directory with 14 majors (13%), while Education is the smallest with 6 (6%).

What the data shows
The largest fields are pre-professional and STEM-leaning. Arts & Humanities (14) leads the directory, and the next-largest fields together with it account for the bulk of catalogued majors — reflecting how broadly these areas branch into named programs.
The bachelor’s degree is nearly universal. 106 of 107 majors (99%) are commonly offered at the bachelor’s level — the default entry point for most fields. The associate level is narrower (28 majors, 26%), concentrated in applied and technical areas, while 54 majors (50%) extend to the doctoral level, more common in the sciences and research-oriented fields. On average a major in this directory is offered at about 2.7 of the four degree levels.

Methodology
Figures are counted directly from the List of Majors dataset of 107 majors across 10 fields. Each major is assigned to one primary field (following the U.S. Dept. of Education CIP taxonomy and common-majors lists), so field shares add to 100%. Degree-level shares count every level at which a major is commonly offered, so a major can be counted at more than one level and those shares do not sum to 100%. The dataset reflects common U.S. majors and is not exhaustive; counts update automatically when we add or reclassify a major. No salary, employment, or outcome data is used anywhere in this study.
